My Online Identities
I sign into all of the following sites multiple times per day, looking for friends to add, news articles, pet photography, hot tips... Okay, so I don't, but if you use any of these, you might as well check out my page and let me know you're there. Here's my main contact information.
Identities somewhat ordered according to how often I use these services.
- Google Profile / Google+
- Google Buzz - almost nobody uses it, but still the social network I find most tolerable
- Twitter - generic microblog
- identi.ca - geek microblog
- Twitter - eco microblog, this is also me.
- LinkedIn - "social job hunting"
- idealist.org - social volunteering/job hunting
- last.fm - music taste sharing
- goodreads.com - elitist book sharing website
- foursquare - social location sharing
- Pandora - musical taste palette enlargement. Using this much less. Ads are annoying, but don't make enough use of service to pay for it
- Amazon - books & media
- Flickr - image sharing
- Youtube - video sharing
- userstyles.org - website personalization
- del.icio.us - hyperlink sharing
- LiveJournal - boring blog
- FOAF - friend of a friend (what is FOAF?)
- ohloh - programmer social network site
- Jaiku - "activity stream"
- Orkut - social networking
- Reddit - social news
Current Contact methods. Higher on this list = favored.

- Text/SMS/Phone: +1 (504) 208-1167
- Postal Mail (I'm in Oregon now, so I might not see it for a while!):

- Skype: dhrasmus chat / call
- IRC: dhrasmus on freenode.net
- AIM: highcastledan (say hi) - better off with Google Talk/Jabber
- ICQ: 4689648 - using this very infrequently. It's gotten spammy.
You will always be able to find my latest contact information here at danrasmussen.org - Dan Rasmussen
Obsolete Email Addresses. A beacon for my friends from the past.
- spiffy1two@aol.com - first email address ever (1995).
- dras_2001@msn.com - Stopped using it. Too spammy.
- spiffers@rocketmail.com - acquired by Yahoo, if I remember correctly.
- dhr@operamail.com - Deleted by $#@! admins after 60 days of inactivity. I'd still like to have kept it. Great browser, crappy email service.
- dhrasmus@iastate.edu - graduated = lost everything. Now revived (see: employment), but "deprecated".
Inactive/Dead/Abandoned
- Jabber/XMPP: dhrasmus@charente.de - stopped working properly
- Facebook - "social networking." I dislike Facebook. I don't find it to be a satisfying way to communicate with others, and don't enjoy taking backseat to advertisers.
- eventful - Event calendar. I had high hopes for eventful, but it kind of sucks.
